Abstract: This paper considers the impact of labour flexibility on unemployment and workers' rights, particularly in developed countries. It analyses the arguments of supply side economics for the abolition of minimum wages and employment security, widening of wage differentials, reduction of non-wage labour costs (especially social security), etc.  It proposes using labour slack rates to improve data collecting on labour surplus and underemployment, and advocates profit sharing and basic guaranteed income.
